Gimmick for the Vanish of the Statue of Liberty in a Photo

I think this idea might already be out there, but I want to create a gimmick to make the Statue of Liberty appear and vanish in a small photo (letter size) as a tribute to David Copperfield. The tricky part is the reappearance; I don't think flaps would work for that. So, I'm wondering if anyone in the community could help me out. Thanks!
